EQUITY + JUSTICE COACHING
Equity and Justice Coaching is a way to build your capacity to embody your deepest values around racial justice and social justice through working one on one with a coach.
Depending on the path you plan together, you can work in any of these areas:
Interpersonally
Make connections between your understandings of yourself and patterns that may be getting in the way of having authentic relationships across difference.
Problem solve sticky situations and work through internal tensions that may be negatively impacting your relationship across difference.
Internally
Connect deeply with the reasons you do equity and justice work.
Work through internal questions, tensions, manifestations of internalized inferiority and/or superiority that may be blocking you from showing up in the world the way you want to be.
Reflect on the successes and challenges in your equity and justice work.
Work to align your thinking (head), feeling (heart), and behavior (hands).
Institutionally
Learn “best practices” for anti-biased and inclusive protocols for hiring, strategic planning, management, organizational structure, decision-making processes and partnership engagement.
Further develop your capacity to lead culturally diverse teams of people through growing your feedback practices.
Build your analysis around patterns showing up in your organization or institution, and develop vital skills to interrupt harmful patterns.
Culturally
Grow your capacity to be an agent of culture change wherever you are.
Strengthen your skills for navigating complex group dynamics and facilitating hard conversations towards building a culture of trust and belonging at your organization.
Our Approach
Rooted in popular education, we always start where you are. Our coaching is based in an inquiry approach that leads to action, with concrete suggestions and an individual tailored plan.
Sessions are confidential, and grounded in trust. We begin with identification of the core issues or dynamics needing attention, and then unpack the contexts, assumptions and narratives surrounding them. This process generates questions to live into, actionable strategies, communication practices and specific pivots to move towards more liberatory realities.
While our Equity Coaching focuses primarily on racial dynamics, we take into holistic consideration how diverse realities, identities and experiences of power interact with race. Together we figure out transformative paths that honor the many dimensions of who you are.
How You Can Work with Us:
Your coaching experience will start with an intake session aimed at establishing connection with your coach, and communicating about goals for your time together. From there, your coach will guide you through a series of sessions. We recommend starting with a minimum of 4 sessions, meeting every other week.

6 seventy-five minute sessions. These in-depth sessions include considerable homework and two check-ins with other relevant staff. This format provides the greatest opportunity for addressing and transforming complex dynamics.

4 one hour sessions. This shorter series is intended to provide specific support to figure out how to navigate a tricky situation, identify areas of stuckness and design a customized action plan.

20 one hour sessions. Ongoing support over a year.
